Session 3: Lighting & Shading

Test drawing to map out a table (This was done at the end of the session as preparation for next week's perspective drawing for independent study)
In week 3's session, the main task given was to continue working with the charcoal and/or a 2B/HB pencil where we would map out Nick (our class's model) with a light source that would be facing to his top left (our right). This was to exercise our knowledge in lighting and estimating how it would work on the drawing's environment, and on the model/object itself.

I would say that I have learned how to apply what we had previously learned the week prior, in using the charcoal's smudge technique and applying shading caused by the light source, creating some bold texture work that was intriguing to replicate and understand. It also proved to be a bit more difficult in determining the work's perspective from our individual points of view.

In the end, I found this session's lesson in light sourcing to be quite informative, as well as useful for any projects going forward. As the use of light sourcing and shading can make certain elements such as arms, legs, feet, etc. Brought much more forward than it would look like in a usual flat sketch.
