When researching other artists and creators, we were asked to place ourselves into their mindset. As they are artists from long ago, certain media and supplies they had used were a challenge to replicate, but managed to be interesting exploration into finding out how to use pencils, paints and more to great effect.

Colour Theory

Colour theory is the practice of using certain colours to compliment, contrast, or blend with in art. And this was a way for us to learn how certain colours react to one another. I found certain colours like green, blue and yellow can be a good complementary colour for dark shades like black and purple. And had informed me on the importance of hues and creating certain moods and emotions when deciding my colour choices for future art pieces and projects.

We were also asked to create colour palettes from given words and phrases like "Mumbai" and "On The Ice Shelf". I found this to be an interesting exercise and made me think about how to select colours based on just a word.

Composition

We were asked to make abstract compositions, using materials and supplies like pens, card paper, and glue. The goal was to achieve a collection of sharp edges and bright colours, with some extra textures given from tissue paper and watercolour paint.
