Introduction:

This assignment has tasked me to create an animated feature that covers a societal issue of my own choosing, and is my responsibility to inform and warn the viewing audience of it's dangers and effect on the designated demographic.
Animation Title: 'The Verge'
Picture
Initial Pitch:
The animated feature's narrative/plot I have to write, is what pushes someone who is suicidal to consider drastic actions based on their internal struggle with the mental illnesses that come with it.
The direction I plan to take this animation in, is to direct something visually dark and daunting, but show that there is a way out of the seemingly endless despair. This is to be shown visually, with very little narration included. The duration is to be set within 30 - 40 minutes, as this is to be presented as a television advertisement; that can be doubled as an advertisement on social media and websites such as Youtube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

When developing the animated process, I found it integral to begin with a visual-first mindset and include narration afterwards

Colour Palette:

My choice of colours are mainly to contrast between the empty feeling of depression and anxiety, and the light colours of relief when help is found for an individual.

Music:
For the background music, I have decided to choose the 'Save Data' theme from Silent Hill 3. My reason for this was for it's sombre sound, but not enough to sound totally hopeless.
Sound Effects:
- RockSlide.MP3

- Murmur.WAV

- Thunder.MP3

- VHS Tape.MP3

- Footsteps_ver 2.MP3

Most sounds were extracted from SoundBible.com, with 'Murmur' being done and edited by myself

In creating an animated advert of my own, I constantly referred back to those I've seen as a child, as well as online in the early era of YouTube.
